Abstract

The dissertation entitled “An approach for Promoting Kataññūkatavedī
In Thai Society” has three objectives are: (1) to study the Kataññūkatavedĩ according to the principles of Buddhism; (2) to study the situation related to Kataññũkatavedī in Thai society
; and (3) to study an approach for Promoting Kataññūkatavedī in Thai society. This research based on documentary research methodology.

The results of the study found that Thai society is a society that values gratitude. It has been cultivated for a long time when a person gets help from someone, and then they should remember to repay him or her in return. The otherwise he or she will be condemned by society as Akataññū one. Recently, in Thai society both monks and householders are experiencing a lack of gratitude because most of the monks most were short-term ordained. The monks usually do not live with the preceptor but return to stay in the temple in the homeland or the school, so there is no duty between them. Do not study the Dharma or listen to the teachings of the preceptor that makes the two do not have ties. According to householders are the same because society is now an industrial society, rushing to work to earn income for a family.
